Uwem Ukpong is Executive Vice President, Global Operations of Baker Hughes. Ukpong is an industry veteran with oil industry experience spanning four continents and previous technical experience as a petrophysicist and reservoir engineer.
Formerly the Vice President of Baker Hughes Integration at GE Oil & Gas, Ukpong has led integration planning and previously oversaw all product lines, systems, and global operations of the GE Oil & Gas Surface business unit.
Ukpong started his career in Nigeria as a petrophysicist with Schlumberger in 1993, where he held several executive roles including Human Resources Director for Schlumberger Corporate; Vice President and Regional Manager of Software Integrated Solutions in Latin America; and General Manager of Schlumberger Oilfield Services in Equatorial Guinea, Cameroon, Ivory Coast and Ghana.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and computer science and a master’s degree in petroleum engineering from Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, United Kingdom.
